Exact excerpt
Following emplacement, the Margin unit experienced at least three episodes of alteration: 1) neutral-to-alkaline, CO2-rich meteoric fluids formed carbonate-rich fracture fill that later eroded into ridges; 2) lower-pH solutions remobilized carbonate, driving secondary porosity generation and silica precipitation from cooler and/or silica-saturated fluids; and 3) late-stage hydrothermal fluids flowed through younger fractures, precipitating Ca-sulfate-rich and fluorite-bearing mineral veins.
