Exact excerpt
We use the CORINE Land Cover (CLC) framework to target Europe’s main natural and seminatural open wetland classes (‘inland marshes’, ‘peatbogs’, ‘salt marshes’, ‘salines’, ‘intertidal flats’ and ‘moors and heathland’), while excluding densely forested wetlands that the CLC framework does not distinguish from other forests. ... these deeply drained former wetlands (no sustained saturation or hydrophytic vegetation) are therefore outside our scope here to avoid double counting with Article 4, which targets natural and seminatural wetlands.
