Exact excerpt
The claim originated on the All-In podcast, where Atreides Management CIO Gavin Baker said he had been told by multiple people he trusts that Dario Amodei has, on more than one occasion, suggested Anthropic could end up being the only private company left in the world. ... An Anthropic representative, Sholto Douglas, explicitly denied the claim as false. “Completely false,” Douglas wrote. ... Douglas pointed to Amodei’s own essay, The Adolescence of Technology, arguing that Anthropic is explicitly worried about the opposite scenario. “In fact, one of the things we are most worried about is economic concentration of power. There is no world where the government should let any company have that much influence. We need competition and capitalism,” he wrote.
