Exact excerpt
The study followed one tsunami-created stickleback population in Otsuchi, Japan, for nine years after 11 March 2011. Most Gasterosteus nipponicus ancestry was purged within approximately ten one-year generations, but the population became nearly rather than completely pure G. aculeatus by 2020, with several loci retaining marine alleles; the result is not a universal estimate for all hybrid populations.
