The N^(3/2−1/(2D)) exponent is an asymptotic large-array result for ordered two-level atomic lattices in free space, normalized by the average individual decay rate; finite-size, lattice-spacing, and limit-order effects can change the observed scaling. MEASUREMENT

Exact excerpt
For ordered lattices of two-level atoms in free space, the asymptotic scaling is stated for D-dimensional arrays with D in {1,2,3} and sufficiently large atom number. Gamma_0 is the average individual decay rate. The scaling is universal with respect to microscopic lattice details only in the large-N regime; for finite N, behavior depends on lattice constant and lateral size. Taking limits in different orders recovers Dicke scaling at vanishing lattice spacing or the non-interacting limit at large spacing, and the one-dimensional large-spacing case does not retain a superlinear exponent.Linked claims
